Full-Time Early Learning Teacher

Job Purpose

The Teacher position is designed for one individual to care for up to six children in a small group setting. They are to teach and care for children according to their needs as a group and individually and assist them in growth and development.

 

Additionally, Teachers are responsible for preparing and feeding meals to children, changing diapers, beginning toilet learning, and maintaining licensing regulations regarding children.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

The Tender Hearts Teacher is responsible for the following:

  • Teaching using age-appropriate ideas and concepts.

  • Care for five to six children accommodating their needs as a group and individually.

  • Feed meals to children.

  • Light meal preparation.

  • Maintain a flexible schedule that conforms to the children’s needs.

  • Follow licensing rules and regulations.

  • Organize and rotate toys.

  • Work with children of older and younger ages during combined group play.

  • Attend staff meetings.

  • Additional duties as directed by the Program Manager.

 

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 14 years of age

  • Must be willing to complete a child abuse & neglect as well as criminal backgrounds check upon hire

  • Must be willing to complete 30 hours of online training upon hire

Experience

  • Any combination of training, experience education that provides the required knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the duties of the position.

  • Any experience working with children in a childcare or babysitting setting.

 

Personal Characteristics

  • Should possess the personal characteristics generally recognized as essential for public employees, including integrity, initiative, emotional maturity, dependability, courtesy, good judgment, and the ability to work cooperatively with others.

  • Have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, attend church on a regular basis, and be comfortable teaching and sharing their faith with others.

  • Comfortable working with infants, caring for their needs.

  • Comfortable working with children of varying ages and developmental abilities

 

Working Conditions

  • Teachers work in classrooms with five to six children. They will also work in our gym spaces during drop-off and pick-up times.

 

Hours/Salary:

This is a full-time position and requires one evening a month for staff meetings.

Evenings and weekends off.

Salary is experienced-based, at $13.00-$14.00 per hour, Health Insurance, Paid-Time Off, and SIMPLE IRA are offered.
